Code of Conduct
All members agree to be bound by the following code of conduct
1. Members will properly house, feed, water and exercise all dogs under their care and arrange for appropriate veterinary attention if and when required.
2. Members will not allow any of their dogs to roam at large.
3. Members will clean up after their dogs in public places or when their dogs are being exhibited.
4. Members agree not to breed from a bitch before she is 12 months of age or a dog before he is 7 months of age
5. Members agree not breed more than six litters from a bitch unless express permission has been granted from the Irish Kennel Club.
6. Members will not breed from a bitch with a proven hereditary health defect at the time of mating.
7. Members will provide purchasers with details of vaccination and worming treatments that the dog has received together with a written diet sheet and information relating to future immunisation and worming requirements.
8. Members will not sell or gift any dog to commercial dog wholesalers, retail pet dealers or directly or indirectly allow dogs to be given as a prize or donation in a competition of any kind.
9. Members will not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed nor falsely advertise dogs nor mislead any person regarding the quality of the dog.
10. Members will ensure that all relevant Kennel Club documents are provided to the new owner when selling or transferring a dog and that any agreement or conditions attached to the sale are in writing and a copy signed by both parties. In the event that full paperwork is not available at the time of sale a signed undertaking to supply same within a reasonable time must be supplied to the purchaser
11. Members agree that any dog sold on breeding terms shall be correctly recorded and a written contract shall be drawn up and signed by both parties.
12. Members agree to draw up a written contract to be signed by both parties when a puppy is being accepted in lieu of a stud fee. Such a document to be signed before the mating takes place.
ANY MEMBER FAILING TO OBSERVE THE ABOVE CODE OF CONDUCT MAY BE LIABLE TO CENSURE OR EXPULSION FROM THE CLUB AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COMMITTEE WHOSE DECISION IS FINAL IN ANY SUCH MATTER.
